- Mother
- May help relieve asthma symptoms. Beta-agonist side effects can include tremor, fast heart rate, and low potassium.
- Baby
- Available data do not consistently show a higher risk of major birth defects or miscarriage with inhaled albuterol, but data are limited.
Trimester Notes
- 1st Trimester
- Limited data. Use only if needed for asthma control and after provider review.
- 2nd Trimester
- Monitor asthma control closely. Uncontrolled asthma can be harmful in pregnancy.
